B R I E F   H I S T O R Y  O F   T H E  C O Y


    In 1964 a Coy of senior Division Boys of 2nd Assam Bn NCC Silchar was allotted to Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. In July 1965, this Coy was re-designated as 1 Assam Indep Coy NCC, Aizawl and remained under Command 2nd Bn NCC, Silchar and was put under Command of a separate OC within the Jurisdiction of NCC Group Head Quarters, Silchar. The Coy was again re-designated as 20 Mizoram Indep Coy NCC, Aizawl. At present, the Unit is allotted with three SD Platoons, five and six half JD Tps, Two SW Platoons and one and six half JW Tps.

 

REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE INCEPTION

 

          The main function of NCC is to impart para Military Training to NCC Cadets. Camps and Courses are being organize every year. We received allotment of Camps from Higher Headquarters. Centrally organized Camps included Pre-Thal Sainik Camp, Pre-Republic Day Camp, National Integration Camps, Trekkings, Rock Climbing Training Camps, Advance Leadership Course, Army Attachments, Basic Leadership Course and Mountaineering etc. State organize Camp included Combined Annual Training Camp, Annual Training Camps etc. These Camps are being sponsored by the Central Government  and by the State Government.

 

          In previous years since 2000 years 01 Senior Wing Cadet and 01 Senior Division Cadet both from Hrangbana College, Aizawl have undergone Youth Exchange Programme in Russia under Republic Day Banner. One Senior Cadet has been sent to Sri Lanka for the same Course. So, 01 Senior Division Cadet from Pachhunga University College complete Army Commission at Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehra Dun. After some gap, one Senior Wing Cadet from Hrangbana College complete direct Commission after obtaining training from OTA, Chennai. One SW Cadet has been commissioned in Army Ordinance Corps, she is from Hrangbana College, Aizawl. Camel Safari which is a rare Course has been undergone by one Senior Division cadet at Rajasthan.

 

          Overall cadets of this 20 Mizoram (I) Coy NCC, Aizawl complete camps and courses with success by obtaining Medals and Certificates.

         

          Every year Govt. Mizo High School band participates in Republic Day Camp The Mizo Band has the proud privilage to perform infront of the VVIPs to include Hon’ble Vice President of India, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi (host State), the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Hon’ble Minister of State Defence, Hon’ble Defence Minister visit to Rashter Pati Bhawan on 27 Jan and culminating with the Hon’ble Prime Ministers Rally  on 28 Jan at Delhi.

 

          In addition to Mizo Band on an average six to eight cadets from Mizoram participate in Republic Day Camp every year.
