NSS Unit and Women’s Cell, Government Serchhip College  observed National Girl Child Day on 23rd January 2023 at Smart Classroom,  Government Serchhip  College. The programme commenced with welcome speech delivered by H. Lalchhanhima,  NSS Programme Officer followed by presentation on “National Girl Child Day: Significance & its initiatives” by Dr. Lalhmangaihzuali Ralte,  NSS Programme Officer. The Resource Person spoke on the brief history of National Girl Child Day, its significance in promoting  girls right, reservations,  health, nutrition and education.  Government initiatives through campaigns: Save the Girl Child and  Beti Bachau, Beti Padhau were highlighted. The decline of sex ratio in the nation contributed by female infanticides was  featured  in the presentation.  Various government initiatives toward upliftment of girl child was also specified. The Resource Person concluded by encouraging  the students to participate in promoting  gender equity and equal opportunities. 

H. Lalchhanhima concluded the programme  with vote of appreciation. The programme was attended by 35 students.
