As per the request made by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Government of India, MIZORAM CHRISTIAN COLLEGE organized SWACHHTA HI SEWA (SHS) Campaign Programme on the 22nd September, 2023 at I.T.I. locality. A dual programme on SWACHHTA – CLEANLINESS DRIVE and SINGLE USE PLASTIC AWARENESS and DISTRIBUTION OF CLOTH BAG among public was carried out the same day.
The NSS Unit, Mizoram Christian College work hand in hand with the Local Council of I.T.I. locality. The volunteers gathered at the ground of Industrial Training Institute where Mr Lalthanliana Tochhawng, Chairman, I.T.I. local council gave a short speech on the importance of ‘Single Use Plastic’ and ‘Importance of keeping surroundings clean’. The Vice Chairman of the I.T.I local council, Mr H. Lalbiakkima also stress on the harmful effects of plastic pollution and importance of cleanliness for healthy living. After the gathering service was over, the volunteers were clubbed together in three groups, wherein one group clean and sweep the market area, while the other groups engage themselves in cleaning the main roadsides of the locality, including bus stops and commercial places.
Volunteers also hand over cloth bag to the public while instructing them to started using degradable cloth bags instead of non-degradable plastic and polythene goods. After cleaning up the area, all the volunteers gathered together at the same venue to receive light refreshment.
The second session of the SWACHHTA HI SEWA (SHS) CAMPAIGN PROGRAMME was carried out the same day at the AQUATIC COMPLEX, I.T.I. where Ms Dr Julie Zothanpuii Khawlhring, the Assistant Professor at Mizoram Christian College, who is also amongst the Office Bearers’ of the Mizoram Aquatic Association, gave lecture on the importance of water bodies and the importance of water conservation for our survival and healthy living. Dr Julie, also instructed the volunteers to the healthy features of swimming for personal physical benefits.
Mr Vanlalpeka, the Programme Officer of the NSS Unit, Mizoram Christian College, along with the Vice Principle Dr Lalthansanga C and other eight teaching faculties of the college endlessly work together with utmost effort for the success of this campaign programme.
