On the occasion of International Women's Day, 2024, NSS Unit, Govt Mizoram Law college visited Central Women Jail, Aizawl.The team were allowed to enter the Jail Premises. Two standing building one for detaining Under trial inmates and one for convict inmates were availble.Due to increasing crime rates in the State , Jail population is overcrowded, the actual total sanctioned capacity is 96 but at present 251 inmates along with 20 children were inside Jail.Majority of jail inmates were prosecuted for the offence under ND & PS Act, 1986

The team also had an interaction with the jail inmates where they shared their day to day activities inside jail and the major problems face inside jail. The team also stress on the importance of women in a family,encougare them and also assured them that although they are behind the bars they are not forgotten.

The team also gave some women's personal needs food stuffs for their children and story book for children.
